The Lodge sleeps up to 15 in two dormitories, Blencathra and Pennine. The head gardener for Greystoke Castle used to reside in the main house and used the lodge to store all the home-grown fruit and supplies for the Howard family through the long winters. It is now fully kitted out with a fitted kitchen-diner, with every convenience including linen and towels, wet rooms, drying rooms and one of the toilets is easily accessible for the disabled. Tea, coffee, fruit juice, various cereals, bread butter and jams and milk are provided. The rest can be found at the local shop which is only 5 minutes walk and offers a good choice of fare.  The Boot & Shoe pub serves excellent food and drink throughout the day, also fantastic homemade refreshments and more can be found at the Cycle Cafe, again only 5 minutes away.

Blencathra dorm: sleeps 4-5. Pennine Lodge: sleeps 8-10 (two rooms). £30pp. Distance from pub: 200 metres. Pk lunch: £6. Full English breakfast: £9. (or £3.50 for something simpler). Location: Grounds of Greystoke Castle, next to Stafford House.

We (a group of 15 lads) stayed here in early June. We told Hazel to increase her prices as we felt like we had stolen from her. Absolutely fantastic accommodation for the price. There are two mini 1-storey houses with kitchen, bedroom and wet-room. You are in rooms with 4 - 6 bunk beds, so you get to continue the craic until everyone falls asleep. Breakfast is brought to you in the morning provided you order the evening before, there is a wet room to shower in after the long day, and a kitchen which had orange juice, milk, bread etc. It is walking distance to the local pub, which has a quiz night on a Thursday. Also a lock up for the bikes. 5 stars all the way.

We have just completed the C2C last week and stayed here on Tuesday 6th July 2010. Excellent accommodation, all the lads agreed it was great value for money. The Boot and Shoe Pub is a stroll up the driveway, and is also excellent. Great time had by all the lads and we'll probably be back on the next C2C.

A group of friends and i completed the C2C for a second time two weeks ago and we've stayed here both times. Last year we were all in the bunkhouse and this year my partner and I were lucky enough to get a room in the main house. I love this place and would recommend it to anyone. Hazel is so lovley and makes you feel so welcome. The service you get fot the price is unbelievable. THe bunk house is of a high standard and the guest room in the main house is one of the best i've stayed in. Its the perfect place to chill out after a long day cycling. The boot and shoe pub is only a two minute walk away which serves fantastic food. However it does get busy so its worth booking in advance. I would come back here every year if i could.

just completed the c2c and this was our first stop over after a tough days ride in the wind and rain. Fantastic bunkhouse great food and a well stocked kitchen and fantastic host and not to far away from the pub either. Stay here again top drawer...

A great place for a stopover when doing the C2C, great food good atmosphere and friendly hosts and locals. Excellent chips worth going back just for them...

Fantastic place to stay on C2C... e stayed here after our first days cycle and could not have received a warmer welcome. We stayed in the 10 bed lodge (2 bed and 8 bed dorms) and arrived to find the place extremely clean and warm, with a cycle lock up facility, dry room for wet gear and excellent showers in each of the 2 bathrooms. Breakfast provided in the price was good quantity of toats, cereal, juice and hot drinks, we also ordered eggs/ beans on toast at a small additional cost which was delivered to the lodge for us! The lodge is a short walk from the Boot and Shoe pub which was also excellent... I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to all, I've also heard great things about the B&B and woud like to come back and stay there too! Many thanks to Hazel and Dean for a great stay.
