The Chestnuts is a fantastic starting point for the C2C, hosts Norah & Bob could not be any more welcoming, the accommodation was spacious, clean and very comfortable, breakfast was great. They even let us leave the car securely parked for the duration of the trip. Thankyou from Shane, Brandon and Richard for a stress free start to the C2C !

Norah and Rob were extremely helpful and accomodating especially as we were a last minute booking. The excellent welcome, accomodation and breakfast was the best possible start to our trip. Very many thanks. Ann, Colin, Andrew and Emma

Norah and Rob provided me with a very comfortable stay on 8th June, just outside Whitehaven and two miles from the start of the Coast-to-Coast. Very comfortable bed and excellent en-suite facilities in quiet country surroundings. I particularly enjoyed meeting the owls Norah keeps and the African hedgehogs. Rob picked me and my bike up from the station, so removing any panic about finding my accommodation. For the record, five of us completed the 135 miles in two days at nearly 15mph average, despite being more like swimmers for the last 30 miles! I can only recommend that you try the hospitality!

Very enjoyable stay. Ron kindly picked me and my bike up from the station, so I didn't have to worry about finding the accommodation. Very comfortable and in my room, first class en-suite facilities. Lovely surrounding area and a pleasant night's sleep. Norah showed me her owl collection and African hedgehogs - a must for any animal enthusiast, very cute. All this set me up for a successful tilt at the C2C in two days with some young riders from our club. Thoroughly recommended service!

3 friends and I stayed at the Chestnuts as our first stop on the coast to coast. It has everything you could want from a B&B and owls! The rooms were clean, comfy beds and great showers and the breakfast was fantastic. The owners were extremely friendly but not intrusive and were happy to give us a tour and a talk of the owls and other animals. We really enjoyed our stay and I would happily recommend and go back if I am ever in Whitehaven again. Brian

I stayed here before starting the C2C and the basis of the reviews here and I wasn't disappointed. Norah and Bob made me feel most welcome and my room was homely and comfortable. The animals give it an extra interest and I had fun playing football in the garden with one of the dogs. Breakfast was good quality and filling. It's a really relaxing place to stay before the ride.
