by Mark Di Suvero
A site specific work
installed on the edge of the River Tyne adjacent to the International
Ferry Terminal. The steel and stainless steel structure is
a monument to artistic engineering and balancing skill. Three ‘tripod’ style
legs support a top piece that twists and dips in the wind.
The structure is painted ‘Redwood Orange’ – a colour that stands
out boldly against the surroundings.

by Colin Rose
Originally made for
Gateshead's site at the Glasgow Garden Festival but relocated
to the banks of the Tyne in 1990. Colin Rose's sculpture
distills the idea of the moon's dominant effect on the oceans'
tides and its influence on the whole of maritime history.
This lunar force is echoed by the 27 metre span of
the steel sculpture which reaches 11 metres in height and
supports a steel ball 1.3 metres in diameter.

Neptune Road
The Bike Wheels and Coins were commissioned
by Graeme Deas of Newcastle City Landscape Dept. and fabricated
locally using traditional steel techniques for the wheels
and Digitally Controlled Plasma Flame cutting for the coins.
The works are designed to reflect the history of the area
and its new use as a cycle path - as well as being strategically
positioned to stop climbing on to the bridge abutments!
