Welcome to the C2C Guide website

photo © Ian ExtraThe C2C Guide website is designed primarily as a resource centre for the Sea to Sea (C2C) cycle route which runs across the North of England from Whitehaven or Workington on the Cumbrian coast to Sunderland or Tynemouth on the North Sea coast.

The site was originally built to help newbies to the route plan and enjoy the perfect cycling holiday but has now grown into the definitive information source for the C2C route.

C2C Cycling Guide
Need a guide in your pocket?
The C2C & Reivers Routes B & B Cycling Guide Book provides all the essential accomodation and tourist information for the ride and will even guide you back on a circular route via the Reivers Route from Newcastle back to Whitehaven.

You can visit the website here

or purchase a copy direct from Bay Tree Publishing.

C2C map
In May 2007 Sustrans released a brand new C2C route map printed on waterproof paper and available at the bargain price of £6.99. For those of you looking for to buy the C2C map for your trip the latest map is available here so you have no excuse for being sold the old version by unscrupulous shopkeepers!

Ready for More?
This handy guide covers everything the cyclist needs to know along a 200-mile Odyssey between the Tyne and the Forth, following the beautiful sandy shoreline of Northumberland's historic coast, through fishing villages and past Britain's finest castles.
Learn more here and buy the book!

Rubbish!
As you cycle the route and stop for a buttie or a drink please make an effort to put your rubbish in a bin - if there is no bin then carry it with you until you find one. Parts of the route are becoming despoiled with empty Lucozade bottles, plastic sandwich containers and the like. Not only is it disrespectul to the people who have to live along the route but its also just plain bad manners - rant over!

Use the site to plan and prepare for your C2C epic and then let me know how you got on - happy cycling!

Mark Porter, Editor of the C2C Guide.
