Formerly part of the old railway from Rookhope to Consett the path has been converted into an excellent traffic free route for walkers and cyclists.

Hownsgill Viaduct - located at mile marker 108.6 this very impressive 150 foot high bridge almost dares you to look down into the gorge and not feel sick!

route features
After the long slog up Rookhope Incline (or the even longer uphill slog from Stanhope) you will be relieved to find the Waskerly Way completely traffic free and almost all of it downhill all the way to the finish at Sunderland or Newcastle.

Parkhead Station House stands at 1500 ft and marks 100 miles on the C2C, a welcome sight for weary travellers and ideal overnight stay as it is downhill the rest of the way to the finish!. The former Station Masters house has been sympathetically converted to include B&B, Bunkhouse and Tea Rooms and is fully licensed. Our many facilities include a drying room, basic cycle spares, C2C stamping point, art/photography gallery, C2C memorabilia and guest lounge.
