Superb little hotel right in the middle of Middleton, run by a French couple. Needless to say, the food is excellent (Mme Marie does the cooking and brings to Teesdale a flavour of her native Normandy). Ice cream, desserts and chocolates all made by Mme Marie. Light lunches possible and the breakfast menu ranges from pancakes and Breakfast Gateau to the full Monty English. Freeview TV and wifi in rooms. Bar serves cocktails, real ale, wines by the glass and has a pool table. A splendid new addition with a large terrace.

Rooms reflect the many period features of the house such as Georgian fireplaces and exposed beams, whilst being fully up to date for comfort. Egyptian cotton bedding and rooms have mini fridge, tv/dvd player and wifi. The cosy lounge has a log fire. Visit Britain 4 star rating plus a Silver Award and a Breakfast award. Members of the ETC cyclists and walkers welcome scheme. Lovely local produce available for evening meals.
