A handy point mid-way between Keswick and Penrith, this is a cosy, comfortable and relaxed inn with a four star rating from the English tourist board. In addition to seven rooms there are three cottages. Dogs welcome. The owner is a chef who has cooked in the Channel Isles and the culinary influence is French, with much use of local produce. And it's jolly good...

A warm welcome to C2C from the new couple running Lane Head. Bang on the route, much money has been spent restoring this lovely old farmhouse. There is now a bar and evening meals are provided so long as you give a couple of days notice. There is a drying room and 7 en-suite rooms (two with baths and showers over), each sleeping 2 people. Great place to relax after a hard days cycling. Hosepipe to wash down bikes.
