Sustrans

Sustrans, which stands for SUStainable TRANSport, are a civil engineering charity whose aim is to encourage people to walk and cycle more as a starting point for reducing motor traffic and tackling its adverse effects. They undertake work on practical projects such as cycle ways and footpaths, and are the driving force behind devising and developing the C2C cycle way as part of the National Cycle Network. This network consists of over 12,000 miles of traffic free paths and minor roads linking most main towns and cities in the U.K. As well as the National Cycle Network, Sustrans also work on Safe Routes to Schools, Safe Routes to Stations and other practical responses to transport and environmental challenges. Sustrans work relies on the donations of over 40,000 Supporters and the support of charitable trusts, companies, the National Lottery and local authority programmes. If you have any comments on the C2C don’t hesitate to let us know and, if appropriate, we will pass it onto to the Sustrans HQ in Bristol.
