Formerly part of the old railway from Rookhope to Consett the path has been converted into an excellent traffic free route for walkers and cyclists.

Hownsgill Viaduct – located at mile marker 108.6 this very impressive 150 foot high bridge almost dares you to look down into the gorge and not feel sick! eating places
